. . . to Published Book
Here are the steps to my book design process:
1. Receive author’s fully edited word document via email or flash drive. It's essential the author has the manuscript professionally edited before I begin the formatting process.
2. Format book's interior - from Title Page to The End.
3. Design front and back covers, using author’s suggestions, themes, concepts, colors, and/or graphics. (Or front cover for an ebook)
4. Oversee the procurement of an ISBN (International Standard Book Number) and LCCN (Library of Congress Control Number). (an ISBN for an ebook optional. They're assigned by the online ebook service.)
5. Send pdf of the formatted document and cover designs to the author for input and approval.
6. Modify interior formatting and/or cover design according to the author’s requests.
Minor editing and some interior and/or cover modifications are expected after the first author review. The author either emails a list of edits to me, or if there aren't too many, we discuss them over the phone.
7. Help the client open and manage an online printing and/or ebook publishing service account. Some sites have an upload fee.

8. Upload finalized interior and full cover to online publishing service.

9. Ship first printed proof or book to the author for review.
10. Edit/revise book as needed.
Authors will find errors in the first printed book. It's a given. The "How-Did-I-Miss-That-Mistake? Effect." Therefore, minor editing and some interior and/or cover modifications will most likely be required after the first author review of the printed book. That's included in the overall cost.
However, if at this point, the author requests major changes to the files, I charge an additional fee of $45/hr.
The author does not pay for Publishista errors.
11. Repeat uploading process at online publishing service until the book is published at online book retailers.

12. Convert print version to ebook and upload files to the ebook site.
